Over 8 exciting weeks you’ll work with one of our experienced professional band coaches and transform yourselves into the ultimate ‘Garage Band’. Then at the end you’ll be playing one of Sydney’s live music Open Mic nights to showcase your set!

Discover how to play in a band
Develop and practice a set list of songs
Learn from professional industry musician / music directors
Invite your friends and let them watch you perform

Drummers, Bass Guitarists, Singers, Keys/Piano, Guitarists, Saxophone, Backing Vocalists and others all welcome to join

COST PER TERM
$330 per person (for 8 week term)

Each weekly session runs for an hour and a half block. Instruments and amps will be provided for, however you will need to bring your own bass guitars, electric/acoustic guitars, sax, trumpet, drum sticks etc.

It’s ideal for you to attend the first class so you can meet your fellow band mates, be given music and discuss any other songs you may like to contribute. The date will be provided to you once you enrol.

You’ll be expected to turn up to all band sessions to ensure you learn and develop your parts. If there any dates or times you think you can’t make then you’ll have the opportunity to discuss with your band mates alternative times and days (depends on the availability of the band coach).

Join one of Australia’s most inspiring young musicians, Simon Tedeschi at Monkey Baa’s Lend Lease Darling Quarter Theatre from Saturday 20 to Sat 27 September as he takes us on a journey through a day in his life from 5am practice sessions, his first public performance age 8 at Sydney Opera House, to winning the Sydney Piano Competition aged 10 to playing in front of Luciano Pavarotti at the age of 13.
 
Through hilarious anecdotes as a boy, Simon recalls his pranks and practices which shaped his extraordinary life while playing some of his favourite music including Chopin’s Minute Waltz, Beethoven’s Fur Elise and in homage to his grandmother – a Polish Mazurka.

He’ll perform Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, the most beloved guitar concerto of all time. Yamandú Costa’s explosive solo set left him the talking point of the 2010 Festival. He returns to perform his quintessentially Brazilian orchestral suite with the Adelaide Art Orchestra, conducted by Brett Kelly.

Maitree – Every Story Counts

Looking for 6 talented young musicians for creative health video


Maitree House (maitreehouse.com) is producing a short creative video for a client in the health sector. We are looking for 6 culturally diverse and talented musicians aged 13 – 21 years to take part in a music collaboration for a 2-minute video about young people’s health rights.

To apply for this role you need to have a unique musical skill, an ability to improvise and enjoy collaborating with other musicians and in different genres. We want original musicians including beatboxers, poets/rappers / vocalists / brass player / keyboard player/ guitar players / electronic / experimental etc.

Participants also need to be confident in speaking on camera and happy to engage in conversation about young people’s health care and share their own thoughts / experiences on this topic. Part of the creative development process will be to participate in a simple and fun theatre workshop where we will explore young  people’s views on health care.

The video will be shot in a documentary style and is all about collaboration, play, experimenting and creating something awesome!

Young people with a disability are encouraged to apply.

To be considered, young people must be available for the following dates:

Time: Allocated slots from 4pm – 7pm

Participants help brainstorm ideas around the theme of healthcare and also contribute to creative music ideas for the shoot days with local DJ/producer.

All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
